Art Institute in Chicago

Today was a fun filled day in Chicago.

My son's French club and the Art AP class did a joint venture to the Art Institute for a field trip. I managed to sweet talk my way into going along. It was a wonderful day spent looking at Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Renoir, and too many more to name. I fell in love with some of the Cupid and Venus paintings that I have never seen before. The American Folk Art section and the American Modern Art was also seen and enjoyed!

One piece that I was looking at and admiring was a stunning fireplace
screen. In the center of the screen is glass that is encasing this beautiful needle point work. I was so enthused to see it that I pointed at it to tell the teacher I was with about it. As I did that, the tip of my finger went over the invisible line and I set off the alarm. I stood there stunned for a minute not even realizing that it was me making it sound. The teacher and I just laughed about it afterwards. She even tried to get me to do it again. LOL But dont you think its just beautiful and well worth making an alarm go off?

As with all places I go, I didn't get to see it all. And I so want to go back and spend the whole day there. It may just happen in the very near future.

Here is just some of the pictures I took. I seem to always take way too many pictures when I go places. ;p

After the Art Institute we went to this French cuisine restaurant. There we had some yummy crepes. I had a savory ham/cheese/tomato crepe and a chocolate dessert crepe. I even talked the son into sharing his with me. He had strawberry. The dessert crepes were oh so YUMMY!

Well that is about it for me tonight. I am pooped!

ETA: Apparently photobucket does not like two of my pictures so I am adding them to the post. One I may understand why it deleted it but the other one is just a scenery picture. Geez!

Too tired to do an actual post tonight. So hopefully this will tide ya over till tomorrow. The son and I are off to Chicago to the art museum and a french restaurant.

Sunday- Football and Laziness

Most Sundays in our house is spent being lazy and watching football. Well more like hubby is laying in bed surrounded by the animals watching football while I have the big screen in the living room watching old movies. That is on the Sundays that I dont have to work.

Today was no exception. While hubby, Jake, and Pumpkin laid on the bed for football, Rascal followed me from room to room and watched old movies with me. I caught some goodies on TCM today. Les Miserables and Maltese Falcon were on and one other with Vivian Lee that I cant remember the name of. After watching those I plugged in Funny Face. I must say its been a while since I watched some of these. They really dont make movies like they use too.

After the movies I tried a new Sunday dinner. It was a casserole with navy beans, bacon, tomatoes, polish sausage, chicken and carrots. The son and hubby declared that I can make it again sometime. I must admit it was pretty tasty.

As for the rest of the day there really was no knitting or anything else. For being a lazy day it flew by extremely fast. I wish sometimes these days off would last just a tad bit longer.

Tomorrow is a work day and then I will be running out to the college to get my classes setup. I still need to get on here and get that fafsa done. Tomorrow night hopefully it will get done.

As for now I am headed off to dreamland. Till next time...

Great Tuna and Trip to Rockford

This Saturday has turned out to be a pretty nice day!

Woke up bright and early to beautiful sun shine after sleeping from 7pm the night before. I must have been pretty tired and wore out to sleep that much. Didn't even stay awake long enough to watch any of my shows.

After showering I sweet talked the hubby into driving up to Rockford with me. I needed to hit up Unique Yarns and pick up some more Dream in Color Classy yarn for those fingerless mitts that I am stuck on making right now. Even managed to score four other skeins of yarn that was on sale. Not quite sure what I will use it for but it was a good price so I couldn't pass it up. ;)

Before leaving Rockford hubby and I stopped at Chipotle's for lunch and Starbucks for a tasty treat.

It was a gorgeous day for a ride up there and really nice to be able to spend that time with the hubby.

This evening was all spent paying attention to the son. The high school had their annual fall play. This year they did "Greater Tuna". Fabulous play about the fictional town Tuna, Texas. It had us all in stitches all the way through. The son had three parts and did a phenomenal job on all three. My favorite would have to be the preacher part. He really is turning into a wonderful actor! I wish I would have taken more pictures through out the whole play but I was a little too busy laughing.

Now I am headed off to bed. My sides are still hurting from the laughing.

Till next time...

Let the college experience begin for me.....

I am really beginning to hate days off. They fly by so fast sometimes, that I dont even feel like I had a day off.

I know I have talked about going back to school before. But now I have the ball rolling and hopefully will be a full time student come January. The first things I need to get done are the placement tests and filling out my fafsa.

Today was spent out at the college taking the placement tests. The reading and English portion of the test I blew right though. Actually scored pretty high in both those areas. Now the math is another story. I use to be really good at math. The key phrase there is use to be. LOL I started out with the easiest math part, but it bumped me up to a harder section. The harder section I didn't do too bad considering I guessed on half the answers. I am sure it will all come back to me once I get going.

On M
onday I will be going back out to sign up for classes.

I must say I am pretty nervous about this whole thing. We shall see how things go with this. Hopefully well!

Well right now I think I am going to go and snuggle with Rascal. He has become very attached to my lap the last few weeks. Every evening he climbs in my lap and begins to purr. He never use to do this. Gotta love the kitty!

Very Very Tired

Its been a long and tiring day.

Work.

Take pickup to grocery store, but before we get there on the way to pick up son ran out of gas as we are pulling into the gas station. Some great guys helped hubby push the truck to pump. Thank you to all of them whoever they are!

Get a few groceries and then home to heat up chili and hot dogs.

Take hubby to his semi so he can go to work.

Now I am home I am going to get a shower and hit the sheets for a little bit of tv, knitting, and sooner or later dreamland.

Till tomorrow...
